Cottages

The workers employed at Batsto lived in houses like this cottage. Built in the early 19th century, single family dwellings typically had three rooms downstairs, two rooms upstairs, and an attic. There were also duplex homes, with two rooms downstairs, two room upstairs, and an attic. During the Wharton era, rent was approximately two dollars per month.
