Regrettably,the prediction of inclement weather for the weekend has caused us to cancel Sunday's ( 9/24 ) Fall Antique, Glass and Bottle Show and wagon rides.

Summer Is Over… But Still Plenty to Come!

Summer might be "over," but Wharton State Forest is open for business all year!  Fall is the perfect time for hiking, camping and visiting Wharton State Forest's historic sites. 

 

Atsion Mansion Tours

The Atsion Mansion will be open for tours through November. Come see one of the most significant examples of Greek Revival architecture in South Jersey! Never “modernized” with plumbing or electricity, the house stands largely as it did in 1826.

Tours are 45-55 minutes and begin outside, between the mansion and office:

  • Saturdays and Sundays:
    • 1 PM, 2 PM

Tickets for tours can be purchased at the Atsion Office and are $3 for visitors over the age of 12, $1 for visitors ages 5-11 and free for visitors under 5-years-old.

Atsion Mansion is located at 744 US 206, Shamong, NJ 08088.

Batsto Mansion Tours

Mansion tours continue this summer and fall at Batsto Village! Originally built in the eighteenth century as a small ironmaster’s house, the mansion now stands as it appeared after Joseph Wharton renovated the home in 1878. Serving as a vacation home for his family, the Batsto Mansion is an excellent example of the Italianate and Eastlake styles, both popular with the Victorian upper class.

Tours are 45-55 minutes and begin on the mansion porch:

  • Wednesdays and Thursdays
    • 11 AM, 1 PM, 2 PM
  • Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays
    • 10 AM, 11 AM, 1 PM, 2 PM, 3 PM

Tickets can be purchased at the Batsto Visitor Center and are $3 for visitors over the age of 12, $1 for visitors ages 5-11 and free for visitors under 5-years-old.

Batsto Mansion is located at 31 Batsto Road, Hammonton, NJ 08037 in Historic Batsto Village.

Atsion Cabins will close for the season on October 31 and will reopen again in 2024.

 

 

Fall Antique, Glass & Bottle Show

Sunday, September 24, 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Rain or Shine

Join us for our annual Fall Antique, Glass & Bottle Show, presented by the Batsto Citizen’s Committee, Inc. Come to Batsto Village on September 24th to view Pine Barrens treasures, search for that rare find to add to your antique collection, or to take a fall stroll through the historic iron town and from 11AM - 2PM...

Take a wagon ride!

While in the village, stop by the Batsto Mansion for a special Antique, Glass & Bottle Show tour! Tours will cover the first floor of the house and will be available throughout the day. Special artifacts will also be on view. Tickets can be purchased at the Batsto Visitor Center and are $3 for visitors over the age of 12, $1 for visitors ages 5-11 and free for visitors under 5-years-old.

Sunset Tours of the Atsion Mansion

Join us in the evening on Saturday, September 2nd and Sunday, September 3rd for guided sunset tours of the Atsion Mansion. Built in 1826 by Samuel Richards, the Atsion Mansion is one of the most notable examples of Greek Revival architecture in South Jersey.

Tours are 45-55 minutes and promptly begin outside the mansion at 5 PM, 6 PM, and 7 PM. Tickets can be purchased at the Atsion Office and are $5 per visitor. Space is limited, and visitors are encouraged to call ahead to reserve their spot.

Antique Vehicles at the 2023 Country Living Fair

 

If you wish to display an antique vehicle at the October 15th, 2023 Country Living Fair, your vehicle must be registered prior to the event.

There are a few requirements for entry to the show and limited spaces. There is no cost to register a vehicle.

Batsto Ironworks Walking Tours Available Throughout July!

Join us this July for a guided walking tour of the remnants of Batsto’s once-great iron industry.
Tours are offered each Saturday in July, with programs beginning at 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
Groups will meet at the Visitor Center, where a guide will bring guests to several landmarks highlighting the history of the Batsto Ironworks.
After walking through the village, guests will be guided along Wharton State Forest’s Blue Trail to see how Batsto Lake once sustained the flourishing iron industry.
The total hike is approximately 2 miles, and guests who wish to extend their hike may continue further without a guide. Additionally, alternate routes to return to the village are available for guests with mobility issues or those choosing to return at their own pace.
Tours are inclusive for the entire family and individuals of all backgrounds and interests in learning and experiencing the unique natural and cultural importance New Jersey's Pine Barrens.

Tours are offered each Saturday in July at 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Tickets are $5 per person and are available by phone at (609) 561-0024 or at the Visitor Center.

Space is limited, and guests are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance.

Kids Love Wagon Rides !

Horse drawn wagon rides will be back at Batsto on Sunday June 4th from 12 noon to 3PM.

Come take a relaxing ride through the village, learn a little history and meet "Moxie" ...a beautiful, strong and very pleasant Persian horse providing the power!
