Members of the Society will have telescopes available for the public to view objects in the night sky. The event is weather permitting, and visitors are encouraged to check the WAS website (https://www.wasociety.us) after 1 p.m. the day of the event to confirm it is still happening should there be cloudy skies.

Observing Uranus requires binoculars or a telescope. The vernal equinox takes place on March 20th at 10:46 am local time. Even though it is spring the Winter Hexagon asterism connected by the stars Procyon, Pollux, Castor, Capella, Aldebaran, Rigel and Sirius can be seen in the southwest portion of the sky. The related constellations include Canis Major, Gemini, Auriga, Taurus, Orion, and Canis Major. The Orion Nebula (M42) a star forming region, is a jewel of the sky that can be observed tonight. Galaxies abound in Virgo and Leo and can be viewed with a telescope.
